Black & White and Cardinal Red All Over is my blog about current political events and my baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals. Occasionally, I’ll tell you about the exploits of my two lovable Great Danes just to break things up a bit. Just a warning: I am a trueblue, unreconstructed Yellow Dog Democrat and a Liberal to the core.
If you would like to read my unadulterated opinions about the state of the union, click on my posts page which is titled Political Posts And Commentary. Leave a comment if you dare.
If you would like to read about the best baseball franchise on the planet, the St Louis Cardinals, just click on the Baseball category and you will be overwhelmed with all things Cardinals courtesy of this rabid member of Cardinals Nation.
March 27 edit: I will be going on vacation very soon. After being a Cardinals fan for 50 years now I am finally going to my first Opening Day. I’ll be back by mid-April after I catch a week’s worth of games in St Louis. In the meantime, don’t believe anything the republicans say. Look what happened the last time you bought into their bullshit!
April 19th edit: Well, I am back. Opening Day was fantastic. The highlight was the return of Ozzie Smith who, despite living in St Louis, hasn’t come to an Opening Day since he retired back in the late 1990’s. The weather was briskly cold. It even snowed for a time in the 5th inning. The Pirates won when our bullpen could not hold them down. We split the series 2-2 and then the Assholes came to town. The Saturday game was marked by the season’s first gland slam. Albert Pujols did the honors on the very first pitch from Roy Oswalt (who we hammered all game long). His next at bat was marked by a 3 run homer. Delightful.
September 30 edit: The Cardinals have clinched the division, much to my surprise after my early season predictions. Of course, I did not see the acquisitions of Matt Holliday, Julio Lugo, or Mark DeRosa either. I’m off to St Louis to greet the Central Division Champions in their last homestand against the Milwaukee Brewers AND, in a first for me, the first round of the playoffs. I’ll be back around mid-October.
